Special Olympics

The Northwest Navigators swimming team is a member of Special Olympics Texas that runs from the end of May to mid July at the NISD Aquatic Center.  Our program is for Northwest ISD students with cognitive/developmental disabilities ages 14-18. Participants will learn and develop competitive swimming skills and compete in the Area 11 swim meet at the end of the season.

Swimmers will need to tryout for acceptance and placement. This is a competitive team, not swim lessons. For tryouts swimmers will be asked, to the best of their ability, to swim 25 yards of the pool freestyle while using side breathing. There will be a limited number of roster spots due to water space/time for practice.
